SULOM DETERMINATION ON ACTS OF MISCONDUCT DURING THE TNM SUPER LEAGUE MATCH BETWEEN SILVER STRIKERS FOOTBALL CLUB AND BE FORWARD WANDERERS FC HELD AT SILVER STADIUM ON 21st JULY, 2019.

1. THE CHARGES AND HEARING
The Super League of Malawi wishes to advise that it’s Disciplinary Committee convened on the 28th of September, 2019 and proceeded to determine on the case in relation to charges levelled against Silver Strikers Football Club arising out of events that occurred during a football match between Silver Strikers F.C
and Be Forward Wanderers Football Club on the 21st July, 2019 at Silver Stadium. It was alleged that Silver Strikers supporters, interrupted the normal proceedings of the game, invaded the pitch and insulted Sulom
officials. Silver Strikers was therefore charged with the offence of failure to control the actions of Supporters, pitch invasion, insulting match officials and bringing the game of football into disrepute contrary to Article 21 (2), 21(6), 21 (7), 21 (9), 21 (13) and Article 21 (53) of the SULOM Rules and Regulations respectively. Silver Strikers did not respond to the charges.
The Disciplinary Committee also had recourse to documentary evidence in the form of Match Assessor’s Report; Stewards’ Report; Police Report, Referee’s Report and SULOM Representative’s Report.
It was established that Silver Strikers F.C supporters at the end of the game invaded the pitch, insulted match officials, interrupted the normal proceedings of the game and prevented match officials from presenting the man of the match award. Silver Strikers is therefore found guilty of failure to control the
actions of its Supporters at the end of the match against Be Forward Wanderers on 21
st July, 2019. Silver Strikers is found guilty of insulting match officials, invading the pitch and preventing Sulom officials from presenting the man of the match accolade. Silver Strikers is also found guilty of bringing the game of football into disrepute.
According to Article 21 (3) of the SULOM Rules and Regulations, Silver Strikers is seriously warmed of unbecoming behaviour of its supporters and hereby advised that any reported improper conduct by supporters will lead to stiffer punishments by Sulom. Silver strikers is hereby fined MK500,000.00 (Five
Hundred Thousand kwacha for invading the pitch and disrupting the normal proceedings of the game and MK1,000,000.00 (One Million Malawi Kwacha) for bringing the game into disrepute.
Silver Strikers Football Club is found guilty of improper conduct of its supporters, invading the pitch, disrupting the match proceedings and bringing the game of football into disrepute. Silver Strikers Football Club is therefore fined the sums of MK 1,500,000.00 (One Million Five Hundred Malawi Kwacha) payable before their next official match and seriously warned against any improper supporter conduct.
In future matches, Silver Strikers Football Club should control the actions of its supporters and ensure that all laws of the game are followed.
Any party aggrieved with this determination has a right to appeal within 48 hours on payment of the requisite appeals fees.
